Something I Just Noticed...

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 10:31 AM
Nurse Yuri is 27 years old, and Roman is the crew's youngest member at 25. So why does the Doctor skip past them and remark on Mia being "only 27 years old"?

Oh yeah... he only actually gives a damn about cute young women in this incarnation. Forgot about that.
...How does it fit into pre-existing 21st century history? Going by the timeline suggested in Tat Wood's About Time books:

c. 2030 The Enemy of the World
c. 2030 The Wheel in Space
2059 The Waters of Mars
2070 The Moonbase
2084 Warriors of the Deep

I'm not sure it *totally* makes much sense for Zoe to be from a less technologically advanced era than Adelaide and crew, but maybe there should be a statute of limitations on continuity: after over 40 years you can brush some things under the carpet :D

For those of you who might need a few words to read over lunch, there's a new interview with me up at A Working Title as well as two new reviews. One of Valor's Choice (although Bonnie generously makes it more a general review of the series) and one of The Enchantment Emporium.

A new Radio Free Skaro episode!:

After seven long months, Doctor Who returned to the airwaves in high style with “The Waters of Mars,” a topper of a story and one heck of a lead-in to the Doctor’s imminent demise and resurrection. The Three Who Rule were effusive in their praise of The Waters of Mars, though somewhat less so when the conversation came to the latest episodes of the Sarah Jane Adventures, which Chris (also known as “Curmudge-or”) succinctly labeled as “poop”. The trio even discussed how Steven somehow managed to get onto UK radio last week and participate in a conference call with David Tennant. Intellectual banter and relentless name-dropping ahoy!

You are my Doctor.

I needed something to distract myself until The Waters of Mars. So I did a little Ten picspam. I know there are still two episodes left for Ten, but I just felt like it. :D
Spoilers for The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith. Allons-y!

Where did the term "Lonely God" originate?

Also, everyone's got a big, wet, opinion )

One final thought: if you look at certain incarnations as a reaction to the prior one (i.e. Two's enthusiasm vs. One's stodginess; Four's lightheartedness vs. Three's work ethic; Seven's single-minded crusade vs. Six's aimless raging; etc.), then what will Eleven become?

I have a question on WoM

  • Nov. 16th, 2009 at 12:31 PM
Okay, so FIRST - I haven't seen Waters of Mars. I know as much about it as the trailers and David Tennant's stint on Jonathan Ross' radio show tells me.

But I do have a question that I'd like answered if possible, that I'll stick behind a cut just in case.
