Okay, I was not going to report this since I have a hard enough time finding people to travel with, but WTF!, so here goes.
Having never flown to Canada before (I always drove) I forgot it is like Bermuda and you cross US Customs while still in Canada. So, I forget I have a water bottle in my carry-on. They see it in scanning and of course, I need to move to the next security station for additional screening. Fine, not like I haven't been picked a hundred times for secondary screening (I fly between clients on one-way tickets a few times a year). So they swab my brand new Dooney and Burke Cabrio carry-on bag. Again, nothing new or so I thought.
Next thing I know lots of activity. Trust me on this one, the last thing you want to hear a TSA agent say is - We GOT A HIT! - and watch as you get a half-moon cicle of agents around you.
Yep, my brand new, never used bag tested positive for bomb making materials.
So 35 minutes later (all the time standing right were I was when they inspected my bags), my passport scanned and copied, my bags searched, my person search, all equipment (computer, camera, headphones) opened, turned on and checked, and a lot of paperwork completed I go on my way (with bag).
Get to Salt Lake. Got an upgrade to first (go me). So, watch bags load, do not see my checked bags. Okay, no big deal. We leave gate. Sit at start of runway for 10 minutes, then Pilot comes on and says we will not be cleared for takeoff by FAA. Back to gate, but cannot leave plan. Me, I watch little carts pull up and offload some bags (thinking, Mmmmm, weather or me?). 90 minutes later, little cart pulls up and offload two bags, one mine and one not mine (so It. Was. Not. My. Fault.).
Then we leave.
Yes, I had a double on the plane, watched Harry Potter and was so glad when we landed and the car service was there to drive me home.
So, anyone still willing to travel with me?
As I have 4 trips in four weeks starting on the 23, it should be fun.
Roberta
